Ok, so a few weeks a go I went into a few tack shops. They were in this rich little country town full of boutiques. I went wearing breeches and a polo, since I was going straight to the barn after. I got AMAZING service. Everyone was nice and friendly.

Then I went in yesterday to the same ones, wearing jeans and a t-shirt. Everyone acted stuck up and rude. They were all glaring at me. Everyone else in the store was wearing breeches and tight shirts with huge ass rings. No one offered to help me at all. And I was trying to buy a saddle!

So, has this happened to you too? This has happened to me multiple times. So I guess I'll just be wearing breeches whenever I go, to ensure good service.

I am not sure what area you live in but here we don't have too big a problem with that. I feel for you though. One way to help bust it up is to ask the clerk if they have anyone new working at the store. Ask for that person's help because it appears all the familiar clerks are too busy to help clients wanting to make a purchase. If you are buying a big ticket item like a saddle it really makes an impression. There is a story here locally about a pig farmer who went into a car dealership in his "work clothes" muddy boots, overalls, the works. The young salesmen ignored him the same way. He finally just walked into the owner's office to ask for help. He got it. Every year this fellow bought his wife a new cadillac and traded in the old one. Lesson learned! It also is a lesson learned for you - never judge a book by it's cover

Breeches are below the knee, looser fitting, made of thicker material than jodhpurs. They usually have thin leather pads on the inside of the knee and thigh.

Jodhpurs in their modern form are tight-fitting trousers that reach to the ankle, where they end in a snug cuff, and are worn primarily for horse riding.

Typically, breeches is used for men and jodhpurs for women w, but both can be worn by either sex as they are baggy in nature and are very comfortable for horse riding. Both are made in the same manner but there is slight difference in stitching for men and women.
